SPARTA, MO — Sparta Police hounded CCT Publisher Johnny Rooster at his private residence in Oldfield about a harassment situation surrounding former Sparta Mayor Jenni Davis in a “perversion of justice” case playing out among us right here in Southwest Missouri!
For those of you who haven’t read part 1, here it is.
To illustrate the trivial nature of this entire scene, I will refer to screen shots of all written dialogue. Keep in mind I have never personally met Jenni Davis or the police in Sparta. I live in Oldfield, not Sparta.
The purpose of this is to clarify what is going on in hopes the notion of using our police to pursue trivial matters ceases. Our police protect us. They shouldn’t have to babysit us or chase us down for “he said she said” pettiness. Their job is far more important. I appreciate the police. They don’t need to be caught up in pettiness. There is enough negative backlash against police in our big cities. Let’s support them in the right way.
One of Jenni Davis’ friends wants me to come in and clear my name. Here’s why I won’t:
I shouldn’t have to prove my innocence, because I am innocent.
Even if I weren’t innocent, I wouldn’t have to come in and clear my name. Innocent until proven guilty. I fear this country is increasingly moving towards a “police state.” That was evidenced in Virginia schools last year. Here is the article from the NY Post about that HERE.
My own rocky past with lies and accusations
Twenty years ago, a notice was dropped off at my mom’s house next door to mine. It was from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department. My 5-year-old son and I were named on the document. It was out of the blue, an accusation about a girl accusing me of rape allegedly when I was 17 and she was 7. I hadn’t seen the girl in 20 years prior to that. She had been convinced in counseling that something happened. I had no contact with her. She was part of my parents’ Christian school. She was described as a troubled person by her family member.
After the bungled notice from the sheriff’s department (my son’s name was on the document accidentally and they delivered to the wrong address) I got a call from my Sunday school friend, who was also a Christian County sheriff’s deputy. “John, you need to come in and clear your name,” he said.
I called my lawyer. He said, “John, the reason cops put on a gun and a badge are to use your words against you. Say nothing. Do nothing. It’s their responsibility to come up with evidence, not your job to clear your name.”
Twenty years have gone by since the incident. What happened? I said nothing, and nothing came of it. Innocent or not, U.S. citizens have the right to remain silent. My late friend Dee Wampler wrote books about the topic. I have a copy of one of his books, “Defending Yourself Against Cops in Missouri (and other strange places)”. He also advocates for remaining silent. See the link to his book here.
It’s not just me
A very reputable man who taught a Sunday school class at James River Church years ago had an even worse incident. His own daughter was convinced by a Christian counselor that he had raped her repeatedly when she was growing up. Medical evidence concluded that she was a virgin at the time of her accusations. The end result was the guy got a butt load of money from a lawsuit against the church for bringing it to a jury trial, and his daughter has since regained her senses and retracted her story. I visited the man and his wife in their fancy new home purchased from the lawsuit settlement money.
I wrote a novel on the subject
The weird nature of being convinced by a Christian counselor to believe a vicious lie led me to a story idea. I self published a novel about the topic. It’s on Amazon. Here is the link.
I’m not perfect
Another incident: when my ex wife was angry at me, she filed an ex parte order of protection (restraining order) to keep me from communicating with her. I legally had an obligation NOT to contact her during that period. But I emailed her a friendly birthday well wish (I was still in love with her). Well, that one cost me $856 in legal fees. So, I’m not perfect. I’m not trying to make myself look that way.
I’m just saying Jenni Davis is a great person. She has better things to do with her time. The police have better things to do with theirs. Sources close to Mrs. Davis say she got threats and hate during the weeks leading up to the April election. That’s horrible. That’s inexcusable. But it wasn’t me. I have always wished her well, as you will read in the screen shots below.
NOTE: One of the final messages I sent Jenni Davis went out to several people. It even includes the same typo, which you can read for yourself below! It wasn’t a message exclusively for her. It was a group message! It went out to more people, but I don’t want to bore you with every stinkin’ detail. You get the point!

The images of her friend urging me to come in
After Julia (Jenni Davis’ friend) saw my response, she sent the following to me:
I have nothing against anyone
I am showing this all publicly because it’s so trivial. I’m sorry you had to go through it. I’m not interested in playing games. It’s hard to explain the pettiness without showing it all. Thanks for your input, all of you. I appreciate Jenni Davis, her friend Julia, and the Sparta police department. Again, I haven’t met any of them in person. I’m sure they are wonderful people, and if I do meet them, I will be happy to do so! That being said, I assure you I won’t initiate contact with Jenni again.
Imaginary movie scene
Setting: Christian County Jail. Midafternoon, when the guards are on break.
Inmate 1: What are you in here for?
Johnny Rooster: For contacting the ex mayor of Sparta.
Inmate 1: No shit? What’d you do to him?
Johnny Rooster: It’s a woman.
Inmate 1: Whoa, dude! That’s rough.
Johnny Rooster: I sent her a text message, wishing her well and something about God blessing her. I don’t remember the details. But I put it all in my blog.
Inmate 2: I’m in here for beating the crap out of my girlfriend.
Johnny Rooster: (silence)
Inmate 1: (to Rooster) You gotta light, bro?
Rooster (ignores him)
Inmate 2: I got one, dog.
Inmate 1: Cool. Thanks, bro.
Johnny Rooster: Is smoking allowed in here?
Inmate 1: You some sort of narc?
Inmate 2: Lighten up, dog!
Rooster: You WOULD say LIGHTEN up after you offered a LIGHT! (Laughs)
Inmates 1 and 2: (Shaking their heads in confusion)
