Integrity of the Ozark Mayor is now being tested!

OZARK, MO — The integrity of the Ozark Mayor is now being tested. Will Mayor Don Currence let politics get in the way, or will he be true to voters? We’ll soon find out!

You see, a resignation on the Ozark Board of Aldermen left an opening in Ward 3. (Each Ward has 2 aldermen). The remaining alderman was Heather Alder (I know, appropriate name, right?) who happened to be up for re-election April 2.

Pay attention here… Alder was NOT re-elected. She lost to Eddie Campbell, (CLICK HERE FOR MORE) likely because Alder was presented as a left-wing liberal, and Eddie as a right-wing conservative. Meanwhile, applications for the Ward 3 vacancy are open through April 8.

Temptation…integrity of the Ozark Mayor

“Mayor Don, you can put your friend back on the board of aldermen…”

Just as Jesus was tempted by the devil (click here for more) so Mayor Don (who is a pastor at First Baptist Ozark) is said to be friendly towards Heather Alder, who apparently attends his church. Will he be tempted to put Alder back in the position she just lost to voters, ignoring the will of the voters?

I hope not. For his sake, and for the sake of integrity, I hope not.

I hope a qualified, neutral candidate is selected to fill the vacany.

God help us all if integrity falls short in our pastor and mayor!

  1. The temptation is not the sin…giving IN to the temptation is the sin. In Hebrews 4:15, we learn that even Jesus was tempted in every way as we are (which you alluded to) but your article seems to be written in such a way as to make the mayor seem as if he’s already done something wrong. Yes, I saw the question marks and the wings but the devil horns and the words seem to point in a certain negative light.

You wrote, “The integrity of the Ozark Mayor is now being tested” but it came across as his integrity is now being QUESTIONED. You also said that he “is said to be friendly towards Heather Alder” but that is not a fact and if it is a quote, it should name the person who said it or somehow corroborate it. It sounds kinda squishy to me..kinda yucky somehow.

For the record, I don’t know any of the people involved but since you pointed out that he is a pastor at the First Baptist Church, you need to be careful not to seem against him without a cause. You will make enemies and could open yourself to accusations of slander.

I have been enjoying your blog but this particular one makes me wonder how you could manage to find a way to almost accuse him, to suggest a reason for accusation without actually saying the words that will get you in trouble. It’s almost as if you were speaking out of both sides of your mouth. It made me uncomfortable. I just want to recommend that you might have served us better (and yourself, for that matter) by just suggesting that the possibility of putting the woman who was voted out back in might be a temptation to put her back in office and that this decision wouldn’t be following the choice of the voters of Ozark.

    1. I appreciate your interest. You bring up valid points. However, my purpose for this article was to dissuade Mayor Don Currence from appointing Heather Alder to the Board of Aldermen in Ozark. After a conversation with one of the prominent church leaders where he is on staff, I was informed others have the same concerns about going around voters’ wishes. It is a valid concern of ours.
